Rear window sealing

Hello,
I,ve bought a new rear window sealing from Simon Auto.
I've installed but when I try to close the rear window it is very difficult and the glass is tensioned.
I don't want to force it, did you have this situation?
some advices?
Thanks,
Adrian

Re: Rear window sealing

Hello Adrian !

Above all, do not force the rear window glass
if the seal is too hard to press!

You should call Andréas Simon to ask him
what he really thinks of this new joint!
Sincerely!

Re: Rear window sealing

Hi John Luke,

I've installed the sealing from Simon. I've adjusted lockers from engine room to the highest position and I've added 2 mm spacers at each locker from the glass. Now it is not anymore tensioned but the distance between rear glass and side glass increased and it is visible.
So I don't like at all. I'll write a message to Andreas Simon with my feedback.
The problem of the sealing from Simon is that its section is circular(closed) while original one is half circle (opened) and leads to a "bigger"quantity of material between car body and glass.
I've found a supplier in UK who can produce a sealing similar with original section. I've ordered and I'll change it.

Thanks anyway for your answer.

Regards,
Adrian

Re: Rear window sealing

Hello Adrian!

The O-ring is not suitable because it is too thick to
be able to squeeze it with the glass which will end up breaking if you
insist!

The original gasket that fits is semi-circular in shape.

It can be pressed safely with the glass!

See the ENPI online catalog for this model of
"Snap on safe".
The reference N ° 025447 is suitable because it is this model
that I put on my GTA!
It is necessary to plan 4 meters in length!

You can ask them for samples before placing a firm order!

Re: Rear window sealing

Hello Adrian!

This semi-circle shaped seal model is perfect for
and there is no risk of breaking the rear window to ensure proper sealing!

Fortunately you did not force the assembly of the gasket
circular sent by Simon instead of a model conforming to
the origin, because you would end up breaking your window.

You did very well to point out to him that this type of seal was unsuitable and too thick to ensure a good closure,
because there is really a risk of breaking a GTA rear window! ?
In any case, let's hope for him that he will not have already had a return from a dissatisfied customer who has already broken a window while fitting the seal he is currently providing!

Have a good day !

Re: Rear window sealing

Hello Adrian!

As long as the profile of this seal is not identical to the original one, I think that
other customers will quickly realize that it can't fit and they won't ride it not either in my opinion !

Andréas Simon sometimes looks for a solution to help us out and it is all the same commendable
on his part. :)
But the one he offers us to replace this seal is unfortunately not adaptable
and that could really make us break this fragile window if we insist on closing it ! :(

Have a good day !
