GTA-V6 Cost of new engine?

Hi Guys,

My Brother in the U.K. has a 1990 2.8 V-6 NA with carburettors. His engine was diagnosed as being shot. He has been quoted the cost of 5000 U.K. pounds for a new unit via Renault U.K. Does anyone know how much a new unit would cost direct from France? As we are aware that here in Englais we pay over the odds for everything so he needs to know if he is being ripped off!

My engine was ok, but I've just sold it to another Alpine owner. What may interest you though is that I swapped the engine for an engine from a wrecked Safrane. More capacity, fuel injection, more power, more torque, more efficient etc. I had a couple of very good Renault engineers do the job down here in NZ.

Good to see there are other kiwi Alpine enthusiasts! I'm a (translocated) Wellingtonian, now in Holland, who couldn't pass up the chance to own an A310.

Many owners have got larger/newer PRV V6 units to put into A310's and GTA's - there should be plenty of candidates in English scrapyards.
